Ely Roller Skating Club (ERSC) is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, parents/ guardians and anyone associated with the club should at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.
As an ERSC parent/ guardian, you are expected to abide by the following code of conduct:
* Be friendly, supportive and kind towards others
* Welcome new members positively
* Inform the club / coaches of any medical issues when joining. If anything changes
coaches must be notified immediately
* Show respect to others and show team spirit
* Wear suitable clothing to training and competitions
* Show respect towards coaches and officials (judges), and their decisions
* Ensure your athlete has adequate food and drink when at training and competitions
* Listen to coaches in training and at competitions, take any feedback constructively
* Positively reinforce your athletes and show interest in their chosen sport
* Do not place unnecessary pressure onto your athlete
* Behave responsibility on the side lines
* Do not discriminate and encourage athletes not to discriminate on the grounds of age, disability, gender, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation
* Do not make negative / derogatory remarks or criticise coaches, athletes, and parents / guardians in public forums for example, during skating sessions or on social media
* Report any unacceptable behaviour for example, bullying, peer pressure, violence etc., to either of the coaches or safeguarding lead (Kayley, Charlotte’s mum)
* Be gracious in defeat
* Be realistic and supportive
* Encourage and guide athletes to accept responsibility for their own performances
and behaviour
* Appreciate the efforts of all athletes, other coaches, volunteers, parents / guardians and GB Skate Artistic
* Adhere to the Social Media & Fundraising Policy
* Deliver and collect your athlete punctually
* Inform coaches if you are going to be late or cannot attend, training and competitions
* Pay for any fees promptly
* If parents / guardians have concerns they wish to raise, they should be addressed with both coaches face to face. It is requested that a message is sent to one of the coaches asking for a meeting, a mutually suitable time can then be agreed. Both coaches must be present at the meeting and a meeting must be arranged in advance.
Anyone not complying with the code of conduct will be addressed by the coach initially with a witness. Persistent non-compliance could result in a ban from the club.
Any safeguarding matters will be addressed by the Ely RSC Safeguarding Lead.
