Ely Roller Skating Club (ERSC) is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the
wellbeing of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, parents / guardians and anyone associated with the club should at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.
As an ERSC Coach or Volunteer, you are expected to abide by the following code of conduct:
* Ensure the safety of all athletes at all times
* Always consider the wellbeing and safety of athletes before commenting on ability
or entering athletes into competitions
* Be friendly supportive and kind towards others
* Welcome new members positively
* Be positive and approachable
* Show respect to others and show team spirit
* Treat all athletes equally and ensure they feel valued
* Do not discriminate and encourage athletes not to discriminate on the grounds of
age, disability, gender, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race,
religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation
* Appreciate the efforts of all athletes, other coaches, volunteers, parents / guardians
and GB Skate Artistic
* Take responsibility for their personal possessions whilst at training and competitions
* Wear suitable kit to training and competitions
* Show respect towards other coaches and officials (judges), and their decisions
* Report any unacceptable behaviour for example, bullying, peer pressure, violence
etc, to either of the coaches or safeguarding lead (Kayley, Charlotte’s mum)
* Any allegations of abuse must be dealt with immediately and reported to the
safeguarding lead
* Administer first aid where appropriate, do not remove any individual’s clothing to
administer first aid unless witnesses are present
* Be gracious in defeat
* Encourage and guide athletes to accept responsibility for their own performances
and behaviour
* Respect and listen to the opinions of athletes
* Take time to clearly explain coaching techniques to ensure they are understood
* Ensure that the most up to date coaching techniques are learnt and taught
* Respect personal challenges off athletes and parents/ guardians
* Adhere to the Social Media & Fundraising Policy
* Hold appropriate qualifications as set by GB Skate Artistic
Anyone not complying with the code of conduct will be addressed by the coach initially with a witness. Any matter needing to be escalated should be addressed through the ERSC complaints procedure. Persistent non-compliance could result in a ban from the club.
Any safeguarding matters will be addressed by the ERSC Safeguarding Lead.
